OUR STORY

Selah Springs is a family-owned adventure retreat ranch in the heart of Texas. Founded in 1995 by David Chavanne, what began with his simple desire to create a getaway for his family and friends soon turned into a retreat destination. Soon pastors and missionaries were taking furlough on the ranch, some to write books, other simply to spend a sabbatical in a place where rest is a top priority.

“God is our refuge and our strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Selah. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God.” Psalms 46: 1 & 4

About the ranch

Relaxation is the ranches’ namesake. Selah, a Hebrew term found in the Psalms, is a musical term which means to pause and to rest. It was David Chavanne’s belief that Selah Springs was preordained as a place of solace and relaxation, a place where even the most energetic of guests may find themselves sleeping in a hammock across an entire afternoon. It was David’s vision for the ranch to be a place where families could escape the rush of the city and dwell on the quiet truths of God’s creation.

And what a creation it is. With miles of canyons and meadows, hilltop views and river vistas, it is impossible not to see God’s hand in all that surrounds us. Whether it be for a wedding, a family reunion or a corporate retreat, the staff at Selah Springs are here to glorify God with this place and to ensure that our guests experience rest and renewal on God’s playground in the heart of Texas.
